I understand things like fashion goes and comes back around in cycles. When I was born in the mid 80’s leggings and hotpants were a thing. I hated them growing up, they just weren’t my style. During my teenage years (Y2K), bell-bottoms or flares were all the rage. During my late 20s’ – 30’s, leggings and the late 80’s fashion made a come back. And now I’m seeing teenagers wearing the same stuff I did during Y2K.
But HOW in the butthole did we slide so far back in time to make fascism a thing again. You would’ve thought everyone learned that mistake from history books. Why haven’t we evolved past this ?
It’s only been four months … and I swear you see more than one headline every-fking-day. You know when you read history books, or watch historic documentaries about certain events or wars, and you wonder, what was it like for them at the time? Like the holocaust, I used to wonder how people turn a blind eye to it while it was happening. I don’t have to wonder anymore … it’s happening around us every day. That poem “First They Came” by Pastor Martin Niemoller, rings truer than ever.
I don’t understand how we got here, and I’m afraid of where this is going to get us. I wish I could sleep for the next four years and hope that when I wake up it’ll all have been a bad dream.
I fee like I’m living in an episode of Black Mirror.
