We’re finally in Madrid, Spain! Took us a whole day of travel, we left Seattle at 7am on Saturday and arrived on Sunday 7am. But the hotel didn’t have our rooms ready when we arrived, so we had to wait until 1pm to check in. I totally fell asleep on the lobby sofa.
After an exhausting day of travel, we arrived at the hotel at 8am. Tried to find things to walk around or eat, but NOTHING was open! I’m so not use to a city not having anything open until 11am/noon. After we finally got checked in, we took a nap until 7pm. Then met up with everyone and had dinner. We ate around 8pm, apparently that’s considered “early” by Spain standards. We were walking around our hotels area and happened upon this place and just decided to eat there. No googling, didn’t read any reviews, just “let’s eat here!”. Loved that! The food was sooooo good!
Finally got to try Jamon Iberico in Spain !!! What a treat it was. Their manchego cheese was also really good. Everything we ate was delicious. I especially loved the grilled octopus. The char, and the salt the sprinkled on top was perfecto. Their version of calamari wasn’t fried, I think it was grilled with garlic butter. It was so so good.
Dinner was fun, we sat at the tables on the sidewalk, in true European fashion. Got to know wzrd’s co-worker PJ a little bit better. I didn’t have a high opinion of him before, but he turned out to be a nice guy.
At first I thought I had my Royal Palace of Madrid tour tickets today, but found out it was tomorrow. What a relief. I’m so tired right now lol. Wzrd is off to work right now, and I think my plan today is to go wander and shopping around Gran Via. I’m a bit intimidated to walk around by myself, so hopefully I’ll make it out. (LOL)
