Madrid : Day 2

Even though I was a bit hungover and extremely tired from Day 1, I still ventured out on Day 2. Because I pre-bought tickets to see the Palacio Real Madrid (The Royal Palace of Madrid).

But first, food!

My lunch on Day 2 was at Bar Cruz, another recommendation by the Spain Youtuber. I looooooved this place so much !! I so wish I could have a second meal here … The thing they’re famous for is razor clams, one of my favorites! It . was . the . best . razor . clams . EVER ! I still think about it to this day … 🤤

After my quick lunch, I walked towards the Palacio Real Madrid. Along the way were more beautiful buildings. Now, I’m not a religious person, but holy ballz, their churches are so beautiful !

The palace was beautiful, but nothing unlike any other palaces I’ve been to. It’s just opulence and extravagance. Gold and marble everywhere etc … However, I did have a grand time walking through the gallery outside of the palace. It went through the whole history of Spain, and Madrid. There were significantly less people walking around so I got to take my time and marvel at everything. They had some really beautiful pieces of history, a lot of it was linked to Catholicism, but nonetheless, I found it interesting. I’m a sucker for history, I guess.

After hours of walking around the palace and the gallery, I was famished. So I decided to pick up a sandwich before heading back to the hotel. This sandwich place was viral on social media, and it certainly lived up to its hype!

Divorare, I wish they had one in Seattle. I got the Come A Casa with honey. This is literally the best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. In between the perfectly toasted focaccia bread is mortadella, stracciatella chesse, pesto, pistachio, and I added honey as suggested by social media. (DROOOOLz) Even though I ate it back at the hotel, the sandwich was still so . damn . good ! Perfect balance of savory and sweet, the crunch of the toasted foccaccia soaked in honey … omglob I’m now totally on a mission to recreate this.

I was completely pooped by the time I ate my second lunch, so I stayed back at the hotel instead of going out with the gang for dinner. That turned out to be a smart choice as they just went to some Irish pub and had chicken wings. (LOL) I did get hungry a bit later on the evening and ubereats some wonton soup and beef noodles. LOL I was starting to miss asian flavors after all the jamon and cheese.
