We had such a blast on Icon of the Seas !! I think we’re cruisers now.

It was such a beautiful ship, with so much to do! I didn’t think I’d have fun at the waterpark on board, but boy o’ boy, did I !!
Everyday we lounge and wander the boat, get foods, and go to the casino. (LOL) By mid trip, the bartenders and drink waiters all know us by name. I miss being on the boat so much. So much so, that we’ve already booked our next cruise! We’re going back on the Icon next July, but will be doing the Western Caribbean route this time. So excited !!
On day 4 of the cruise, we stopped by our first port – St. Maarten. What an interesting little island. So apparently both France and the Dutch both own this island, and they split it into two. There’s a Dutch side, and a French side. Calling from one side to the other (even though on the same island) is a long distance call. There’s no actual guarded border, so you can drive to and from one side to another like you’re driving to the grocery store. There were also a lot of Chinese stores there, to my surprise. Apparently, the Chinese owns all the grocery/convenience stores. So weird.

St. Maarten was the only place we paid for an excursion. We went to Maho Beach, right next to Princess Juliana International Airport. There we grabbed lunch and watched planes fly in. It was crazy standing directly under a plane as it was landing. I’m so glad we did it. The excursion was suppose to last 4 hours, but after 2 hours Wzrd and I were just too hot. So we hopped into a taxi and went back to the boat early.
The next morning, we woke up as we pulled into our next port, St. Thomas (US Virgin Island). We were so toasty from the day before that we just stayed on the boat. We went to the waterpark on board when everyone was off on their excursions. It was great ! Way less kids and super short lines. We had so much fun !! I can’t wait to go back and do that again.
Our last port and last day was Perfect Day at Coco Cay. We bought admission to go into The Hideaway, an adults only pool section. We got there early morning around 8:30am and planned on leaving around noon. We got so drunk and had so much fun that we stayed until about 3pm. It was indeed a perfect day.

What an amazing trip this was (minus the Miami bits in the beginning)! I’m so grateful for this birthday present! What a way to prefunk for my 40th. We got to soak up the sun and visited new places, also discovered that we actually really enjoy cruising.
Next up – Waikiki in two weeks … /wootwoot
