What a fun trip this was. We finally went to Cabos, stayed at a 5 star all-inclusive resort that has a Michelin star restaurant. What a beautiful resort it was! I can’t wait to go back.
We met up with mom & sis early in the morning at the airport. We got to show them the centurion lounge in the airport. Then it was a quick 4 hours flight down to Cabos.
We arrived late afternoon, and it was already pretty overcast. Since we booked through Amex, we got a complimentary room upgrade! It was the first time we had actually received a complimentary upgrade. It was pretty sweet … After getting settled into our rooms we immediately got changed and went to our first dinner reservation, at Frida. We planned our first night dinner at their Mexican restaurant, and it turned out to be our favorite. I had something with mole and o.m.g it was the best mole I’ve ever had. We finished dinner with a tableside Mexican Coffee. It was the best. To wrap up the night, we hung out at Koa bar with some live music. It was a nice way to end a hectic day of travel.
We woke up and went straight to the buffet. It was probably the best buffet I’ve had a hotel. I intended on having a chill start to the vacation, but immediately after breakfast we decided to hit the pool. We quickly changed and grabbed two nice cabanas on the adults only pool. The weather was still not really cooperating … it was cloudy and overcast. But it was kind of nice for the first full day, we weren’t being baked by the sun quite yet. We hung out at the pool for a few hours, it was sprinkling on and off. Eventually it got kind of cold, so we all headed in to change and get ready for lunch. Lunch was back at the buffet, and it was still really good. They had a grill station where you could have the staff grilled whatever you want, steak, chicken, seafood etc. They also had a quesadilla station, I tried one – it was just okay. After lunch, we took a nap and relaxed a bit before getting ready for dinner.
Dinner on the second night was at Lucca, an Italian place. It was probably the worst out of all the restaurants. The service, decor and vibes were high end, but the food was olive garden quality at best.
We called it a night after dinner, as I was pretty pooped already.
On our 2nd full day (3rd day), it was pouring rain all day. We did nothing but laid in bed and ordered room service. Their room service was good in the morning, but not that great for lunch. There was a small break in the afternoon when the rain stopped, so I dragged everyone out to a walk on the beach. We took tons of photos and wandered around the beach. It was nice to stretch our legs after having been inside all day.
Our dinner on the 3rd night was the most anticipated. We were going to Cocina de Autor, the Michelin star restaurant.

It was a 10 course meal, and I think I only liked two or three bites of it. The steak looked good, but it was smoked for some reason (and I just hate smoked meats). One of the dishes also had “ant eggs”? We all thought we heard the waiter wrong lol but yah … Overall it was okay at best. I’m just not really into this kind of dinning. Give me a nice grilled steak or seafood with some simple veggies any day. I’m a simpleton when it comes to food.
After dinner, my sister & Wzrd dragged me out to the Skybar. When we first arrived it was only the three of us. We played some pool and had a few drinks. I intended on only having one drink lol four or five drinks later, we called it a night.
Wzrd did not have a good night after that , he was up every few hours running to the bathroom. We suspected it was the “ant eggs”.

We woke up to a beautiful sunrise on day 4 (3rd and last full day). I was up just a bit before 6am, and was out on our balcony when I saw people were already staking claims to the nice cabanas at the pool. So I ran down at 6am and grabbed two beds for us. Mom came down not too long after, followed by sis. Wzrd made it down a few hours later once his stomach stabilized. Thank goodness I ran down there at 6am, by 8am – when the pool actually opened – there were no more beds left. We had the best pool day ever on this day. Hung out all day, in and out of the pool. Got drinks and food all by the pool. It was so relaxing and so much fun. We definitely got a few shade darker. Wzrd looked like a lobster by the end of the day.
We didn’t leave the pool until like 3pm. We were all toasted and tired. Having drank all day long we needed a small nap before dinner.
Our last dinner was at Loto Robata grill. We all thought its menu was the best, and had high hopes for this meal. It started out great, we got our drinks and our appetizers. Then we waited 30 minutes for our mains to arrive … 30 minutes! In what world is it acceptable to have a 30 minute wait between appys to mains? Then the food that came out were all cold, and waaaay over salted. We all only had a few bites and couldn’t eat anymore. It was so disappointing. The food we had at poolside was way better than dinner.
After being in the sun all day, and having a prolonged disappointing dinner, we called it a night. We crashed as soon as we got in, the sun had taken a lot out of us that day.
We had a late departure the next day, so we laid in bed all morning then quickly packed before having to leave.
It had been sooo long since we’ve taken a vacation with my mom and sister. It was really nice tho. Mom was on her best behavior, and it was nice seeing my sister relax a bit and enjoy the sunshine and food. We’re talking about going back in Sept 2026, with Mug and dad. It’ll be a nice family vacation.
